It was our first time at Cafe 1771 shooting Jen and Marco's e-session. We went there expecting anything and planning nothing at all. After a few walks around the place, Joannie laid out on them a quick storyboard to make things more interesting. We were glad they were game to be stars for a day - acting out, having fun, dancing around 1771. And with a beautiful Caleruega wedding and a heartfelt exchange of vows, the wedding video that follows is immortalized for their children and grand kids to see :)

Thinking of a write-up for a bride who's a writer can be sheer pressure. It's a great relief that Jen, since the day they signed up for our services, has become one of our good friends in the wedding supplier community. She also gave us an exciting 'yes' when we proposed a 'Tangled' theme for their e-session and save the date shoot.

Kind-of like Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, this was one wedding we all were excited about but at the same time didn't want to have it mark the end of all the excitement and more important, the friendship.

Kitchie and Ricky - Romance in Rain

Last year this month, we went to Laiya and shot in heavy downpour. Now just after the storms wrecked Sofitel, we went back for a scheduled e-session we can no longer postpone for a later date. Of course , it rained heavy and non-stop. We had to shoot in the rain or not do the shoot at all since Sofitel's interiors were being renovated. So here's Kitchie and Ric's rain-drenched drama - and a few after the jump.

Erika and Ariel - Love-wrecked!

We encountered quite a few setbacks prior to Erika and Ariel's shipwrecked-themed concept. First, during our e-session, we found that the venue we booked for the shoot was, well, a total wreck. The owners apparently forgot to tell us that they were demolishing a good part of the whole place. Thankfully, we found some tight spots and you can see below that the pictures we got was still eye-candy. Fast-forward to the wedding, it wasn't exactly the sunny-beach setting as it rained most of the day. Whatever the challenges, weddings are always beautiful events and it's our part to put the sun and happiness through the images - rain or shine.

Jam and Francis: Skype No More

This was one of the few weddings where we got really teary-eyed. Whoever has any idea of the obstacles of a long-distance relationship will definitely be able to relate to what Jam was pouring out to Francis. From hugging her laptop to sleep knowing Francis was online on the other end - on the other side of the world, to looking forward to finally be able to say goodbye to Skype. We had a new found respect for the different things people will do for love and to stay in love.

This will be our first foreign language video and while most of us here won't understand much of the lyrics, we're pretty sure love transcends that and much more...

Summer Splashes with Jam and Francis!

It was smoldering hot in Pampangga when we did this e-session for Jam and Francis. We were very welcome at their family farm where we had a feast for lunch and went straight to shooting before our brains could register it was time for 'siesta'. We mentioned the heat... and there's no better way to summer-beating shoot than with water - colored water, splashing, dripping everywhere. It looked so fun we wanted to be in on the action!

Destination Phuket: Carmela and Patrick

It has been a hot and busy summer for us at DLS. We just moved to our new place in Mandaluyong and work is still in progress until we could say we're fully settled.

And now as the summer draws to a close, we flew to Phuket, Thailand for Carmela and Patrick's dream destination wedding. As beautiful the Westin Bay Resort was, nothing can be more beautiful than Carmela that day. Equally dashing was Patrick with his enthusiastic Call of Duty crew. Raquel and Bryan - and The Mean Girl

This was one concept that almost didn't push through. We had everything and everyone save for one key person - the Mean Girl. And you'll see how integral that part is for the video as you watch it. As luck would have it, my sister's friend and former model Jazmine, was at the school we happen to be shooting at. She and her friends were on a break from classes and we were just glad we didn't do much convincing to cast them for Raquel and Bryan's blockbuster production :)

Who would've thought this particular song could be used for a wedding same-day-edit? I can't really remember how our conceptualization meeting lead to Raquel and Bryan agreeing to the concept - something that isn't seen on wedding videos, something that challenged all of us that anything can be done as long as it's done right. We are indeed lucky to find couples who really went out of their way to entertain their guests and at the same time, be the stars of their own video, on their own very memorable day.

And this is our little mission in DLS - that it doesn't matter you're not a celebrity, if you can imagine it, if you're willing to take us on a spin with you, then you will be a celebrity on the day that only happens once in a lifetime.

On every wedding, we always look for things or happenings that will make the wedding video personal for our couples. Something they will be able to call their own, something that isn't on any other wedding video. One of the first things we always ask our couples would be "will you exchange personal vows?" Some brides and grooms look forward to writing them; other pairs would steer clear from it.

While 95% of our wedding videos are concept-driven - meaning every video will be different and tailor-fit to our couples' personalities, it's their wedding vows that will bind everything together such as this tear-jerking December onsite video we did for Grace and Nino.

And here, Karen and Garrick's wedding was really their own. The beautiful prenup locaiton, their sweeping dance montage and most specially - their exchange of promises.

Only a few of our own works move us enough to drive us into fighting back our tears. Our prenup shoot (here) with Grace and Nino was the perfect concept for their perfect song. Their personal vows held the whole thing together where without it, the emotional impact of the video would've fallen apart. We thank our blessings for witnessing such a beautiful affair.

Aimee and Nap - A Serendipitous Affair

The Serendipity movie-concept wasn't new for prenup photos worldwide but when we were asked by Aimee and Nap to have it translated into a video to be integrated into their SDE - DLS style, we had a new challenge that we were very much willing to take. The logistics for the shoot were all over and we almost bit off more than we can chew with the time constraints and so on. In the end, Aimee and Nap's vows tied the whole picture perfectly together - it's a story of boy-not-meeting-girl until it's the right time fates decides so. Sweet serendipity in a 4-minute video :)

This "Up" inspired concept-shoot was postponed once, rescheduled twice and finally after months of conceptualizing, we got a sunny day perfect for Kristell and Mark's shoot.

Here's to remembering our innocence, our childhood, our carefree days. When we first fell in love, when it was all giddy and butterflies and the world was all full color. Here's to celebrating the never-ending adventure that is life.

Update: Kristell and Mark's SDE is finally here! This one never fails to make us smile - or laugh as the video comes to the part of Mark's vow.

Bless and Ali's wedding was the 2nd of a no-sleep marathon shoot. Both weddings had the same church, the same hotel and reception venue. The thing is for us, all weddings are different. The church, the hotel, the menu - these can be the same. But people will always be different. Our brides, our grooms, they wait years, some their whole lives for this single day and in the few minutes we have to put together a wedding video, it is our ~~job~~ moral responsibility to show their personalities, to show something worth that wait, something that will be remembered. This is how much we love what we do.

This was one wedding for the records. We had a number of 'firsts' on this momentous 10/10/10 event. It was our first at St. Peter the Apostle church, our first at having the preps and reception at Hotel H20 and Oceana respectively - both of which are located at the Manila Ocean Park. To cap it off, it was our first time capturing the couple riding away on their bridal-taxi-car. Just see below :)

Some churches, like the one here didn't allow for personal vows on wedding rites but since our groom Bitoy wrote something special, we just had to end the video with his love ~~poem~~ vow.

Lyn and Onin - The Best Friends Wedding

Onin's a very good friend and office-mate who always had my back when we worked together for an IT/design firm. We were just so happy to hear he's tying the knot with his long time best friend Lyn who I also had the pleasure of meeting back then.

Just when people may think we've done as much we could do with our concept-driven SDEs, we specially did a slightly different editing/shooting method for this video. After all, we still have a few tricks up our sleeve for other upcoming weddings and willing couples to experiment concepts with. Happy viewing!

This was our most challenging cinematic production yet. We had to tell 3 stories in one concept-driven wedding video. We're just happy everything fell into place.

Credit goes to Ica and Lucky and their sibblings Donna, James and Jason for having the will power to conceive and pull off everything from concept to logistics and location.

The audience response made everything worth it - the blistering heat, the long walks around Las Cazas, the hundreds of takes to perfect a sequence and 2 days of shooting. This is one epic video to remember. Hit play already!

Karen and Garrick - A Balai E-Session

This place should now be popular after that 'wedding of the decade' a few months ago. The cozy Balai is well known for its good home-cooked food and beautiful dive spots. We can confirm the food part but we're hoping to return here for some diving lessons soon.

Karen's this really jolly lady and we had fun talking about movies with them both and Garrick's this breakneck driver who loves cars - something I fancy as well.
We had a really good time and we felt we got to rest from our toxic sleepless wedding workload. It does show they enjoyed our two days there too!

Jezreel and Noel - A Fernbrook Fairytale

This was one of those days were we're meeting the couple first time on their wedding day as we're used to bonding with them first on our humble place or during prenup shoots. Going to Parque Espana for Jezreel and Noel's preps, we didn't have any concept, we only had one song we wanted to use for their SDE but even that wasn't a sure hit as without knowing Jezreel and Noel, we had to be prepared for whatever. Let's also mention that we were shooting with photographers Mangored. Sheer pressure indeed.

The weather cooperated, the venue was brightly lit and the people were just happy. Everything fell into place for Jezreel and Noel's video. Here's their Fernbrook Fairytale.

Len and Dexter - Homeward Bound

We've been waiting for the right time to post this set. Since they made it to the top 3 of We *Heart* Weddings' Beautiful Weddings 2010 cover contest, there's no better moment. This is actually the 2nd time a DLS couple got featured (last year's Jan-Mar issue) and it just gives us more inspiration to give our couples more.

We did the photos alongside no-other than Mayad Studios for Len and Dexter's video. That's a mix of pressure and excitement right there!

Mitch and Robert - No Accidents

Here's a fast song that suited the excitement and energy during Mitch and Robert's wedding day. We headed to Laiya for some fun under the sun. After arriving at the resort, it poured. And poured it did that it was hard to stand up because of the wind and the cold rain drops were like needles to the skin and palm tree branches fell off from nowhere - it was a thunderstorm. We were shooting and shivering.

We had to scrap the fun-in-the-sun concept for this one instead.

This was our first time at St. Joseph the Worker and the beautiful Palazzo Royale in Pampanga. Like most of our DLS brides, we only met Nina (and Louie) during their prenup shoot as they were living and working in Bermuda. Our cameras immediately fell in love with them. They ran, they danced and had fun in the sun at The Lakeshore. That happiness continued to their wedding day and the photos will show all the laughter and the tears - of joy! Cristy and Derwin - Summer Love!

I asked Cristy during the prenup shoot: "Can you swim?" and she said yes. Next thing we knew, she was gasping for air, panicking and pulling Derwin down after the first jump. I did make sure the pool wasn't that deep so nothing could ever happen but that's certainly one of our funniest behind-the-scenes bits ever.

Couples who have worked with us will know that we love bonding with our clients. It makes the smiles natural. With Cristy and Derwin, it was bonding to the max. Our prenup turned to a 2-day vacation consisting of trips to a resort, their friend's pool house, malling, pigging out and a night out where Joannie went to the Cristy's bridal shower-cum-gimmick and I went with Derwin and the male entourage on their stag party.

We genuinely want to come back to Cristy's place already for more R&R. We love you, Cristy! We wish we're next-door neighbors.

Another story-driven SDE done the DLS style. The prenup and wedding shoot was so fun it didn't feel like work at all. Perhaps that's because we have ace photographer and friend David Tong (Fonsi's brother in-law) for stills while we shot cinema.

The events that transpired during Fonsi and Novel's first date/s was the inspiration for the video's storyboard. Clumsy would be a first word to describe it but it nevertheless bloomed to a very fruitful love story.

Oh and it's another Pacman day as Manny came out looking for a knock out and Clottey came out looking to avoid one.

Ched and Greg - A Golden Affair to Remember

We like to share something different for now. Ched and Greg celebrates their Golden anniversary and we wanted to do something light and easy to watch - specially for the seniors who attended their event. This was a change of pace from fast mtv-cuts and shots but the challenge was welcome.

Half a century of family, half a century of love. This is Ched and Greg's children's surprise gift as they celebrate more of their lives together. From DLS, we thank you, Carol, for having us become part of something rare.

Bits and Chappy - A Fun Romantic Zambales E-session

"Tikki tikki tembo-no sa rembo-chari bari ruchi-pip peri pembo" means "the most wonderful thing in the whole wide world". So how's it significant to Bits and Chappy's E-session? Well, the kite they designed for the shoot was taken from the children's book Tikki Tikki Tembo - the book they could both remember since they were kids. While the other props and stuff are no longer from the story, we are still reminded why we love shooting weddings - because they're "the most wonderful thing in the whole wide world".

One thing we can be proud of with our videos is that we try our best to make them very personal. While there are requisite shots during the preps and ceremonies, we do what we can so that we don't follow a template.

This is the reason we prefer to get to know our couples personally. To be able to show their guests something more than what they just witnessed during the wedding day.

Mels and Joe - A Total-y Love Story

To be honest, sometimes we don't have the slightest idea how to start shooting our story-driven SDE's. Often, we need to see the location before we know what we can do. With Mels and Joe, I didn't even have a song ready until the day we shot at Total NLEX. All we knew was that the plot was to have them meet there. As luck would have it, everything just came into place. The song we we're thinking of using while still on the road, the location setting, their 'date' setting and most crucially, the sun cooperating.

Another shout out to our lovely coordinator ate Mayette (MCC Events) for making the day stress-free for everyone. We know things are in good hands when you're around.

This was our 2nd time shooting at Enchanted Kingdom. We had no idea there was a different fee for prenups there (of course there had to be). The supervisor basically wanted us to pay 3.5k for the permit. A few minutes of debating with him (there were a lot of guys with DSLRs inside the park anyway) and we were about to give up. Then Erwin, our cunning groom said "Hindi na lang kami magpe-prenup, magpi-picture-picture na lang kami sa loob". To our surprise, the super replied "ok sir, sige po" and then they let us in.

That was the funniest thing that day and we couldn't stop talking about it. It's been days after the wedding and that anecdote still crack us up.

Anyway, weddings at The Oasis are always a fave so we definitely enjoyed the making of their SDE. So click, watch and enjoy :)
